Just one day after launching iOS 26.1, Apple quickly released the first beta version of the next update, iOS 26.2, to developers. This update brings many notable improvements, including Live Translate on AirPods for the EU market, changes to the Reminders app, a new Liquid Glass Effect slider for the Lock screen, and more.
Below is a roundup of all the new features found in iOS 26.2 Beta 1.

Lock screen
On the Lock screen, Apple has added a Liquid Glass effect slider that allows you to customize the look of your watch. Using the “Glass” option, you can use this slider to make the time display almost completely transparent or create a foggy effect.

Besides, there is still a separate “Solid” switch to completely turn off this effect, giving the watch a more opaque and clearer design. The color options for the watch remain the same.

Sleep Score
With iOS 26.2 and watchOS 26.2, Apple has adjusted the feature scoring scaleSleep Score. These new scores are said to better reflect how users feel after a night of sleep.
The new scoring scale is as follows:
- Very low: 0-40 (previously 0-29)
- Short: 41-60 (formerly 30-49)
- Fine: 61-80 (formerly 50-69)
- High: 81-95 (formerly 70-89)
- Very high: 96-100 (previously 90-100)

The “Very High” grade was previously named “Excellent” but has been renamed to be more consistent with the remaining labels. Sleep Score is available on all compatible Apple Watch models and is displayed in the Health app on iPhone, helping users track and improve their sleep quality.
Password
In the Settings section of the Passwords app, there’s now an option to manage sites where you don’t want to save your password when you sign in.

Translate Directly on AirPods for the EU market
iOS 26.2 officially expands featuresLive Translationon AirPods to European Union countries, following a delay for Apple to complete technical requirements to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

This feature works with AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, and AirPods 4 with ANC, and supports English, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Chinese (Mandarin Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, and Korean.
Freeform
The Freeform application now supports creating Tables, helping users organize information more systematically.

Reminder
The Reminders app has been upgraded with a new option that allows you to set an alarm to sound when a reminder is due. Users can enable this feature by enabling the “Urgent” option when creating a new reminder.

When Reminder’s alarm sounds, the screen will show the option to snooze or slide to stop. If you select snooze, a countdown timer will appear on the Lock screen. Apple also uses a new blue color to distinguish this type of alarm from regular alarms.
Podcasts
The Podcasts app gets three new features: automatic chapter creation, the option to see other podcasts mentioned in the transcript and player, and access links mentioned in the podcast right on the episode’s page.

AirDrop
Although not yet officially enabled, the source code of iOS 26.2 shows that a new AirDrop feature is coming soon. This feature allows two people to send each other a PIN code to enable an AirDrop connection within 30 days. This could be a way to extend the current 10-minute limit of AirDrop with strangers.
Weather
Code snippets in the beta also suggest that the Weather app will support showing relative times for alerts, such as “next Friday” or “next Tuesday” when announcing rain or impending weather conditions.
Apple News
Apple has refreshed the design of the Apple News app, adding quick access buttons at the top for categories like sports, trivia, politics, business, and food. The “Following” tab is also separated from the search interface.

Flash for warning has a new option
In the Accessibility section, optionsFlash for Alertsnow allows users to choose to flash the screen when there is a notification, instead of just flashing the LED on the back as before. Users can choose to flash the screen, flash the LED, or both at the same time.

Safety warning
In Notification Settings, a new section called Enhanced Safety Alerts has been added. Here, users can manage earthquake alerts, imminent threat alerts, and enable improved location-based alert delivery for increased reliability.

Release schedule and compatibility
Currently, iOS 26.2 is available to developers. The public beta version (for public users) is expected to be released later this week.
iOS 26.2 is compatible with all iPhone models that support iOS 26. Apple is expected to release the official version of iOS 26.2 in December, between the 9th and 16th.
