At the recent Unleashed event, many people must have been very surprised when Apple introduced the new MacBook Pros. Being impressed that this year’s new MacBook Pro will have a “rabbit ears” screen is one thing. But perhaps the most impressive point will come from the two chips M1 Pro and M1 Max. These two chips provide very high performance and efficiency on the new MacBook Pros. More specifically, despite providing such high performance, these chips will still have outstanding battery life.
According to Apple’s advertising, the 14-inch MacBook Pro with both M1 Pro/M1 Max chip versions has up to 17 hours of continuous movie playback (for the Apple TV app) and 11 hours of web surfing. Compared to the 2020 Intel-powered MacBook Pro model, this model only provides 10 hours of continuous movie watching and 10 hours of web surfing.
As for the 16-inch MacBook Pro model, the battery life is much more impressive than the MacBook Pro model running the previous generation Intel chip. This new 16-inch MacBook Pro model provides up to 21 hours of movie playback and 14 hours of web surfing. The previous 16-inch MacBook Pro model running Intel chip only provided 11 hours for watching movies and 11 hours for surfing the web.
According to the specifications provided by Apple, the 14-inch MacBook Pro uses a lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 70 Wh and for the 16-inch model, it is 100 Wh. Both models will be sold with a USB-C to MagSafe charging cable (2m long) and a 67W (14 inch – M1 Pro 8 CPU core) or 96W (M1 Pro 10 CPU core / M1 Max) or 140W (16 inch) charger.
